As the nationwide opioid crisis continues, The Child & Family Guidance Center (CFGC) takes a leading role in substance abuse prevention serving counties with the highest percentage of youth living below the poverty line. CFGC is thrilled to be partnering with the Child Health & Development Institute (CHDI) to implement a new Substance Abuse Initiative for CT youth. CFGC will be receiving $500,000 over the course of the next five years to implement the program. This grant will enhance youth substance use care in Connecticut through the SBIRT PATHS Initiative. SBIRT PATHS is the latest initiative in a statewide endeavor led by CHDI to provide integrated substance use screening , outreach, and evidence based co-occurring treatment for youth ages 12-21 in five Connecticut counties. The Child and Family Guidance Center is one of five designated regional hubs providing the critical substance use intervention and behavioral health care that adolescents need. SBIRT PATHS aims to expand a vital collaboration between our organization, three other community providers, and the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. This combined effort will serve the counties with the highest percentages of youth living below the poverty line. To read more about the SBIRT PATHS Initiative, click here. |
